An excellent school record forms the basis for succeeding in the demanding role of a consultant. In addition, the role requires enthusiasm in continuous self- development and a natural drive and energy to push things and people forward. People with very different backgrounds can be successful in the August team. However, they all share the following qualities:
A consultant must be able to approach problems in a systematic manner, carry out demanding analyses with utmost accuracy and draw logical conclusions based on them. The ability to make use of available tools efficiently (especially MS Excel) speeds up daily routines significantly.
Consulting is about engaging in constant dialogue with your team members and clients. At August, even the most junior consultants will meet their clients almost daily through various meetings and interviews. Even the best analysis will not convince the client if it is badly presented. Therefore communication and people skills are at the core of a consultant’s role.
Consulting is also about teamwork. The size of a project team varies from two to five consultants with representatives also from the client organization. We at August are team players at heart, and we rely on and help each other to achieve the best possible outcome.
In addition to these three cornerstones of consulting, August consultants also have a genuine desire to offer Finnish companies better consulting services than has so far been available.
